Atlantic Crossing - 2006-11-16

Tradewinds

We are vitalled up and ready to go with Northerly winds forecast. The plan is to sail down the the Cape Verdes, (800 miles) spend a week sailing through this relatively unknown island group and then cross to Barbados (2100 miles) Internet connectivity will be sparce so next report from Barbados mid December. We arrived in Sal after a five day passage, good north west winds and fast sailing. Sal is dry, warm and very friendly. we are enjoying a couple of days here before sailing to Mindelo. We have restocked after an interesting stop on Mindelo. Next stop Barbados around mid December. We arrived on the 10 December after the perfect trade wind passage, all tail winds and the main sail never made its way out of its lazy bag. The Hydrovane and Chao lay charged on at speeds upto 13.3 knots and after 12 days and a good few fish we arrived in Port St Charles Barbados.
